The history of agriculture in Sullivan County dates back to the late 1700’s. Today, we have 380+ farms including two major egg producers and 28 dairy farms, with more vegetable and diversified livestock operations growing.

EDC partners are currently working to create an Agriculture Incubator Center that will be a catalyst for agriculturally based economic development within the region. The Incubator will house agricultural support programs and economic development staff, plus a Demonstration Farm, Community Kitchen, Indoor Farmers Market, Café, Interpretive Center, and a small, boutique Farm-Based Inn. The mission is to promote local agriculture while showcasing the “Made in Sullivan County” brand. Programming will help to promote the County’s products and align production patterns here with market demand for “eat-local” foods within the region.
