A strong agricultural economy benefits not only farmers, but all of our residents and businesses. In recent years, Sullivan County has seen a decrease in traditional dairy and livestock farms and a growing increase in smaller niche and diversified vegetable and livestock farms. Demand for locally-produced goods at farmers markets and restaurants continues to grow in this area, and in New York City.

Agricultural Attractions

Catskill Harvest Market on Route 52 in Liberty is the area’s one-stop shop. Over 100 local and regional farmers, crafters, and artisans sell to them, proof of the shop’s commitment to supporting a local, sustainable economy.

Main Street Farm, 49 Main Street in Livingston Manor features locally grown and sourced foods including seasonal organic produce, milk, eggs, American farmstead cheese, fresh baked goods, meadow raised meats, free-range poultry, general groceries, and flowers.

Sonoma Falls Cider Mill and Country Market, 140 Old Liberty Road, Livingston Manor, offers fresh cider, local meats, cheeses, jams, jellies and produce and is open 7 days a week.

Catskill Distilling Company, 2037 Route 17B, Bethel offers distilled and blended liquors.

Basha Kill Vineyards, 1131 South Road, Wurtsboro, offering wines from their own locally grown grapes, tasting room, tours, music and events.

Eminence Road Farm Winery, 3734 Eminence Road, Long Eddy, offers naturally-fermented, hand-bottled wine that is unfined and unfiltered. Open year-round on Saturdays from 10 to 6 p.m., or by appointment.

Farmers Markets

There are currently a number of weekly farmers markets that sell locally grown produce, dairy products, and meat to residents and visitors. Shoppers might also find artisans and crafters offering their wares. To keep these markets truly local, vendors must live within a 75-mile radius of the host town and 90% of their products must be grown, baked, or crafted by them. The markets often feature live music, children’s activities, and special events.
